City of Song Festival
City of Song is a festival that celebrates Derry's reputation as just that, a city of song. Home to the Undertones, Joseph Locke, Nadine Coyle....the City of Derry is Northern Ireland's cultural capital and a city full of music. Join us for a festival that features BBC Radio 3 broadcasts, The Tennent's Trail, Street Theatre and a weekend of choral participation with the Opera Theatre Company Festival Chorus @ the City of Song. Headline acts include Elisabeth Watts, Urban Voodoo Machine, Tenebrae and Eddi Reader. Running through the festival will be the theme of the Derry Songbook with artists performing their versions of current and classic Derry songs. City of Song is also one of the Northern Ireland events to coincide with Open Weekend, launching the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. For more info click here.

Halloween
space
More than 20,000 revellers descended on Derry City Centre on Halloween night making  2008 one of the most successful ever. This year showed a marked improvement in atmosphere, behaviour and experience.

The riverside location proved to be a positive site for the event. The Carnival Parade was outstanding with the appeal to families evident by the huge numbers in attendance. The extended no-alcohol zones in Guildhall Square certainly improved the City Centre experience into the late evening.

Derry City Council is keen to get the views of the public through a feedback form on their website (see link below) to help with planning for future events. They have thanked everyone involved and said the event was only possible with the support of the council staff, interagency planning team, general public, parents and businesses throughout the City.
