City Centre Initiative took it upon themselves to raise awareness of what a wonderful city we live in and that we often take for granted.
CCI staff took to the streets on Valentine's Day to distribute red balloons with the logo “I Love My City” printed on them. Members of the public were invited to take part in a draw stating what they loved about their city. There were two prizes up for grabs, 1st £50 Austins vouchers and 2nd prise was £25 Foyleside shopping centre vouchers. CCI received a very positive reaction from the public in relation to the things that the public love about their city.
Mayor, Alderman Drew Thompson endorsed the Loving our City campaign and said he supported any initiative aimed at restoring civic pride among local communities. “This is a great city and one which we are all very proud of. This is a very positive way of telling everyone the good things about this city and to encourage people to be proud of where they come from and to promote the city’s achievements. I would encourage as many people as possible to embrace this campaign and express their love for their city this Valentines Day.”
Overall the event was very successful and CCI achieved what was set out to achieve, which was that we should all take pride in our city!!!
